NCP Expands Executive Coaching Services

NCP is pleased to announce that we have expanded our consulting resources to provide state-of-the-art Executive Coaching services for nurse leaders around the world. We believe that every leader benefits from individual coaching to develop the skills needed to survive and even thrive in a constantly changing healthcare environment.

Special congratulations to our Consultant Colleen O. Smith MSN, RN, NEA-BC, CPC for her investment in becoming a certified Executive Coach. Colleen has successfully completed 100 hours of intensive onsite and virtual training and practice through the ICF-accredited College of Executive Coaching.

Colleen O'Brien Smith

Colleen O. Smith is a widely respected NCP consultant with a special interest in, and talent for the Executive Coach role. She has coached Chief Nursing Officers as well as Nurse Directors and Nurse Managers to help them grow as transformational leaders and change agents.

Colleen is a highly experienced nurse executive who served as Chief Nursing Officer for over 16 years. She is recognized for her astute ability to assess the organization’s culture as the context for customizing coaching services and for her visionary strategic planning skills.

A pioneering and courageous leader, Colleen led her hospital to its first ANCC Magnet® designation in 2001, becoming the 35th hospital in the nation to earn that distinction. She set the foundation for the organization’s professional practice environment that sustained ANCC Magnet® designation for over 20 years.

She is a Johnson & Johnson Wharton School Fellow and was recognized by the University of Connecticut as an Outstanding Alumni.

Colleen has served as President of the Connecticut Chapter of AONL and as a Board member of the Connecticut Hospital Association. Previously, she was an appraiser for the ANCC Magnet Program®.

  • Executive Coaching for CNOs, executive teams, & nurse leaders

  • On site leadership & organizational assessment

  • Goal development and action plans with homework and follow up

  • Extensive application of concepts of Emotional Intelligence, Appreciative Inquiry, and Powerful Questioning to promote self-discovery and provoke thought

  • Monthly 1-hour virtual meetings, real time Coach access, & reinforcement of new behaviors

  • Wrap up termination of the coaching partnership & evaluation
